Oprah Winfrey featured a Chicago salon owner on her show, promoting his business while ignoring criminal charges against him that alleged he savagely beat his girlfriend.
Monica Piliszek, 28, says she still bears the scars of the brutal attack.
“I’ve always admired Oprah for the way she champions women against the men who abuse them,” she said bitterly.

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey has often publicly discussed her food addiction and lifelong weight battle.
On her show May 12, Oprah revealed that she finally figured out her compulsion to overeat had less to do with food and more to do with coping with emotional pain.
While the triggers for overeating vary from person to person, Oprah, 56, admitted she would “stuff” her feelings with food whenever she felt sad, empty, unhappy with herself or anxious.

“There’s still anxiety when I have to say no to someone,” said Oprah. “I still worry, ‘What are they going to think’ … [That happened to me recently and] I did not eat a pound of potato chips. I ate a pound of lettuce. But it’s the same thing. I’ve switched the drug from potato chips to lettuce.”

Former senator and presidential wanna-be John Edwards didn’t tell his wife, Elizabeth, the full story about his affair with Rielle Hunter until after he supposedly spilled his guts to ABC’s Bob Woodruff.
Hunter, in her first television interview since revealing juicy details about her life with Edwards in GQ magazine, told Oprah Winfrey those who were really close to Edwards didn’t want the scandal-scarred politician to speak out.
“Everyone who was close to — well, who knew all the facts and knew the truth said, please don’t do that interview. Please don’t do that interview,” Hunter told Winfrey in an interview airing Thursday and seen in New York at 4 p.m. on WABC/Ch. 7.
“Elizabeth really wanted him to do that interview. She wanted him to say, you know, you’ve got to get out in front of it. You’ve got to, you know, say the truth and speak the truth,” Hunter continued with Winfrey. “And she didn’t know the truth. So it’s like you can’t do the interview and not speak the whole truth.”

Oprah Winfrey verbally tossed Kitty Kelley’s controversial book about her into the garbage can on Monday, deriding it as a “so-called biography.”
At the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards, where she presented an award to Gayle King – her best friend and an editor of O, The Oprah Magazine – the daytime diva wasted no time in bashing Kelley’s 544-page work, People.com reported.

“I was astounded that the woman who seems so open and uninhibited is really so choked by secrets,” said Kelley, who interviewed more than 800 people and spent four years researching the book.
In a short excerpt obtained by the Reliable Source, Oprah comes off as a demanding diva unwilling to lift a finger — or foot — if she doesn’t feel like it.
About five years ago, she contacted Georgetown’s L’Enfant Gallery, known for high-end antiques, because she owned works by portraitist John Kirthian Court and wanted to see more. Gallery owner Peter Colasante bought three paintings ($60,000-$80,000 each) and had them shipped from Portugal to his shop for Oprah’s consideration. He received strict instructions for her short visit, along with a partial schedule: “2:17 p.m.: Oprah’s limousine arrives at L’Enfant Gallery, 2:20 p.m.: Oprah walks into gallery….”
